Shahid Sergeant Zahurul Huq Memorial Day

In Person

The hall remembers its namesake on the anniversary of his death in custody, 15 February 1969.

Sergeant Zahurul Huq was accused number 17 in the Agartala Conspiracy Case. On the morning of 15 February 1969 he was shot at the door of his cell and died that night at the Combined Military Hospital. The outrage that followed forced the government to withdraw the case a week later, on 22 February. Students of this hall — then Iqbal Hall — renamed it for him, and the university made that name official after independence.

The association observes the day with the hall administration and current residents.
